About Shipping Container Offices
CHS Container Group’s ground-level offices are created from new (or “one-trip”) shipping containers. Once decommissioned from international logistics, they’re brought to a specialist production facility to be thoroughly cleaned, framed, insulated, drywalled, and outfitted with office necessities. Available in both standard and customized configurations, each office container is fitted with windows, personnel doors, heating and cooling units, and electrical outlets to create a comfortable, all-season workspace.
Unlike standard brick-and-mortar offices, container offices can be deployed wherever space is needed and adapted as your needs change. This makes them particularly useful for temporary projects, expanding operations, and sites where building traditional offices just isn’t feasible.
What can shipping container offices be used for?
Popular with both private and commercial customers, shipping container offices are most commonly used as:
- Construction site offices
- Mobile sales centers
- Dedicated work-from-home spaces
- Farm shops
- Customer-facing reception rooms

Shipping Container Offices: Frequently Asked Questions
Container offices are most commonly constructed from standard 20ft shipping containers, with exterior measurements of 19’10” L x 8′ W x 8’6″ H. They provide about 150 sq. ft. of interior floor space that can accommodate multiple desks (with optional partitions), storage areas, and other office essentials.
Though less common, 40ft shipping container offices are also available. An office constructed from a 40ft high-cube container measures approximately 40′ L x 8′ W x 9’6″ H, with dimensional tolerances as specified in ISO 668.
The cost of a shipping container office depends entirely on the size, condition, configuration, and modifications required. Contact our team for a quote based on your specific container office needs and delivery location.
Shipping container offices can be customized with a range of features and interior fittings. These include window grilles, staircases (for stacked designs), upgraded flooring, built-in shelving, and even kitchenettes. Let us know more about your workspace needs and we’ll be happy to recommend modifications to suit your space and planned use.
Yes. Shipping containers are purpose-built for intermodal transport—so container offices can also be conveniently moved and placed at ground level. We can deliver them to construction sites, commercial properties, and even private residences. Let our team know where you need your container, and we’ll coordinate delivery using the correct equipment and placement methods.
It’s entirely possible to create a shipping container office the do-it-yourself way—but it takes time, energy, space, money, and (in some cases) specialist equipment. By contrast, buying a prefabricated container office from one of CHS Container Group’s specialist facilities is fast and flexible, while still tailored to your exact needs and specifications.
